When Zidane and his band of theives come to Alexandria disguised as a Theatre she decides to escape. We also see black Mage Vivi trying to get in to the show and eventually he does with the help of a ratkid called Puck. The travelling thieves are there to kidnap Garnet and are therefore happy when she tries to escape on their boat. However her guardian Knight Steiner also tags along as does Vivi. When Queen Brahne find out she launches a barrage of cannonballs at the massive floating ship. They escape from Alexandria but crash into the evil forest....where no-one has ever escaped from.

 

When they arrive Vivi and Garnet are captured by a large plant sent to return her to her Mother. But they defeat the monster an free Vivi. But she is taken further into the forest and Zidane wants to rescue her. But the leader of the thieves, Baku, refueses so he sets out on his own. He rescues her and then his friend Blank cures her of the spores the plant infected her with. The forest then turns to stone and it is a race against time to escape and outwit the plant monster followeing them, they escape but Blank is captured and turned to stone but not before he flings the world map to you. They decide to head to Lindblum where her Uncle lives. Thye find out he was the one who orginized her kidnap to rescue her from her mother.

 

She is being supplied weapons by Kuja, a man/woman (not partciually sure as he is quite feminine) to spark war ebtween the cities. Powerful eidielons and weapons that have turned her once peaceful mother into a power mad woman. After being hunted by them they discover Dali, a village where black mages that look like Vivi are being manufactured for the Queen. Thye are chased by the most powerful mages. Her mother captures her and draw out the eidiolons within her and she is undertsnadably upset. She changes her name to Dagger to avoide suspsicions and meanwhile the romance and chemistry between her and Zidane is growing.

 

They escape to Cleyra but Queen brahne summons Bahumet to destroy the giant tree. And she does killing all the inhabitants but not beofre they escape to her ship. Then Kuja turns on her and he controls Bahumet and destroys her and her fleet. Alexnadria is almost destroyed as in Lindblum but she and Eiko summon Alexandrer and protect it howver seconds later Alexander is captured by an unknown figure in a spaceshop above them. She is now Queen Garnet and in her sorrow she does not speak for a while. When she does she cuts her hair and decides to stay with the others and defeat Kuja (cue corny scene where you are just shouting at Zidane to kiss her). Thye discover than Kuja has gone to Terra and they follow, there are many people who look excatly like Zidane. This is where you find out her is actually from Terra but was abandoned on earth by Kuja. He was created by Garland like Kuja but he is more advanced and as set to take over Kuja's role on Gaia. He was meant to disrupt the flow of souls therefore replacing Gaia's souls with Terra's. This is how Terra lives by absorbing other planets.

 

Zidane refuses to help Garland and Kuja finally achieves Trance destroying Terra but not beofre the others have saved Zidane's family and escaped on the invincibile ship. Shorthand part is that they defeat Kuja and are transported back to Gaia, but Kuja is still alive in the branches of the Lifa tree and Zidane feels he must save him. He goes back after promising to Granet that he will return. He doesn't he finds Kuja and the branches attack him. The last we see is him being surround with a barely alive Kuja.

 

Some years later Zidane is feared dead, Vivi has Kids and Eiko's been adopted by the regent of Lindblum. The ship has returned to do a proper play. As Granet watches the main chracter suddenly flings of his cloak and it's Zidane, he shouts "bring my sweet Garnet to me!" she has a hart attack runs onto the stage ripping off her crown and stuff and flings herself at him. Aah happy ending.

 

side note: one funny thing, in the play Marcus says "no cloud nor Squall will hinder us"... ring any bells?
